**Location:** New Orleans, LA
**Job Type:** Full-Time Consultant (12-Month Assignment)
**Schedule:** Monday–Friday | 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
**Pay Rate Starting at:** $27.29 per hour
**Work Environment:** Fully Onsite | NASA Safety-Sensitive Facility
Build the Hardware That Powers Space Exploration
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled **Fabrication / Welding Technician** to support a high-profile aerospace program at a NASA Space Launch System (SLS) facility in New Orleans. This hands-on role is ideal for technicians with strong welding, mechanical, and electrical assembly experience who want to contribute to the production and integration of critical aerospace hardware.
You will work directly on components supporting next-generation launch systems, helping ensure quality, safety, and mission readiness.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will perform a wide range of fabrication, welding, and assembly tasks, including:
+ Performing machine setup, machining, welding setup, and welding operations
+ Executing sheet metal fabrication, extrusion work, tube bending, and related fabrication tasks
+ Performing composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly activities
+ Assembling precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components
+ Assembling, repairing, modifying, and installing power plants and drive train components
+ Performing soldering on electronic and avionics products
+ Assembling and installing wire harnesses and avionics components
+ Preparing test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for testing
+ Performing basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation
+ Applying routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements
+ Working on articles of limited complexity using established drawings and work instructions
+ Supporting installation activities on the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket
+ Periodically working in different areas of the facility to support evolving program needs
Project-specific training will be provided onsite.
Required Qualifications
+ Minimum **1 year of welding experience**
+ Solid mechanical and electrical hands-on experience
+ Ability to read and interpret **electrical blueprint drawings**
+ Comfortable working at heights, including use of **JLG lifts**
+ Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards **This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.**
Education:
+ High school diploma or GED with typically 1 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in aerospace, aviation, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments
+ Experience with composite fabrication or assembly
+ Familiarity with soldering, wire harness installation, or avionics assembly

**Pay Details:** $27.29 per hour
