Job Summary:
Designs, develops, and implements **machine display user interfaces (UI)** and experiences, ensuring seamless **collaboration and integration with digital platforms** to deliver cohesive user journeys.
What You Will Do:
+ Analyze and document business requirements for new machine display UI features.
+ Design, develop, and implement machine display interfaces that align with operational and business needs.
+ Collaborate with digital experience teams to integrate physical and digital touchpoints for a unified user experience.
+ Support and enhance existing machine display interfaces, improving usability and performance.
+ Facilitate design thinking activities to drive innovation and alignment across physical and digital solutions.

+ Predicts potential impact of design options across physical and digital channels.
+ Advises others on synthesizing data and assessing alternatives.
+ Applies effective decision-making approaches for collaborative design.
Computer Software Industry
Knowledge of software and hardware integration for machine display systems.
Level – Extensive Experience:
+ Provides insights into HMI technologies and their relationship to digital ecosystems.
+ Explains dependencies between embedded systems, connectivity, and user experience.
+ Compares major platforms and approaches for industrial UI development.
Machine Display UI Design** **_(Replaces Web Software Design)_
Knowledge of principles and practices for designing, developing, and maintaining machine display interfaces.
Level – Extensive Experience:
+ Discusses key issues and challenges in embedded UI design.
+ Leads integration of visual, audio, and interactive elements for machine displays.
+ Addresses security, reliability, and usability considerations for industrial environments.
+ Participates in development of multiple or large-scale machine display UI solutions.
Human-Centered Design (HCD)
Ability to design machine display experiences that meet real user needs.
Level – Extensive Experience:
+ Defines objectives and scope for HCD initiatives in physical and digital contexts.
+ Leads agile and HCD processes to gather end-user feedback and validate designs.
+ Directs pilot testing and iterates prototypes based on evaluation results.
+ Consults on complex scenarios and optimizes organizational strategies using HCD.
User Experience Design
Ability to design intuitive, ergonomic, and integrated experiences for machine displays.
Level – Extensive Experience:
+ Advises on mental models and workload optimization for operators.
+ Coaches others on evaluating design effectiveness and contextual analysis.
+ Develops prototypes, usage scenarios, navigation maps, and specifications for machine display UI.
User Interface Design
Ability to create effective graphical interfaces for machine displays integrated with digital systems.
Level – Extensive Experience:
+ Delivers high-quality UI design solutions for embedded environments.
+ Creates and maintains design documentation including task flows, wireframes, and mock-ups.
+ Designs interaction flows and visual elements for physical-digital integration.
+ Coaches others on usability and visual impact evaluation.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
