    Position Summary...

     

    We’re seeking an enterprise-minded leader to own and evolve Walmart U.S.’s Pricing Strategy — shaping how we invest in price, define customer value, optimize pricing decisions, and steward Every Day Low Price (EDLP) principles across the business.

     

    This role oversees the full pricing strategy portfolio, including Strategic Investing, Customer Value Proposition (CVP), Optimized Pricing, and EDLP Gatekeeping. The Senior Director sets the strategic direction, operating model, and decision frameworks that ensure Walmart consistently delivers trusted value to customers while remaining competitive in a dynamic marketplace.

     

    You will partner closely with Merchandising, Finance, Operations, Product, Capabilities, and Analytics leaders to align pricing strategy with enterprise goals, influence decision-making, and continuously strengthen Walmart’s price leadership.

     

    What you'll do...

    Set Enterprise Pricing Strategy & Direction

    + Own the end-to-end **Pricing Strategy vision, operating model, and execution rhythm** across Walmart U.S.

    + Define how pricing strategy ladders into Walmart’s long-term customer value promise and EDLP principles.

    + Balance short-term competitive needs with long-term trust, consistency, and financial sustainability.

    Lead Strategic Investing & Competitive Readiness

    + Oversee proactive and responsive **price-investment strategies** across items, stores, and markets.

    + Establish enterprise standards for scenario planning, costing, modeling,consideringcompetitive response.

    + Anticipate competitive moves and market disruptions, guiding leadership toward clear, EDLP-aligned actions.

    Own** **the Customer** **Value Proposition (CVP)

    + Lead the definition and evolution of Walmart’s **customer value framework** , including value pillars and relative weighting.

    + Ensure CVP insights directly inform price investment decisions, optimized pricing strategies, and rules-based responses.

    + Serve as a thought partner to Merchandising and Marketing on how customers perceive value — not just price.

    Oversee Optimized Pricing Strategy

    + Set the strategic guardrails for **optimized pricing** , including cost-to-serve frameworks, price gap targets, and financial constraints.

    + Ensure pricing tools, rules, and targets align to EDLP principles, AOP commitments, and customer expectations.

    + Partner with Product and Analytics teams to evolve pricing capabilities, automation, and decision support.

    Act as EDLP Gatekeeper

    + Serve as the enterprise steward of **EDLP principles** , ensuring tactics and decisions consistently reinforce Walmart’s value promise.

    + Own and evolve EDLP operating models, “willdo/ won’tdo” standards, IPT frameworks, and pricing guardrails.

    + Provide principled challengeswhen proposed actions risk eroding customer trust or price consistency.

    Lead Cross-Functional Influence & Executive Communication

    + Represent Pricing Strategy with **Officer-level leaders** , influencing decisions across Merchandising, Finance, Ops, and Marketing.

    + Translate complex analytics, tradeoffs, and customer insights into clear strategic narratives and recommendations.

    + Create alignment across diverse stakeholders in high-ambiguity,high-visibilitysituations.

    Build, Lead, and Scale the Pricing Strategy Organization

    + Lead and develop Directors and senior leaders across the Pricing Strategy portfolio.

    + Establish clear accountability, development paths, and operating norms for a high-performing team.

    + Continuously improve processes, frameworks, and capabilities to leave the pricing function stronger over time.

    What** **you’ll** **bring…

    + **10+ years** of experience in pricing, merchandising, strategy, finance, operations, or adjacent retail leadership roles.

    + Demonstrated success owning **enterprise-scale strategy** with real P&L and customer impact.

    + Deep understanding of pricing dynamics, customer value, and competitive behavior in complex retail environments.

    + Proven ability to influence and challenge senior leaders with credibility, clarity, and sound judgment.

    + Strong people leader with experience managingbroadteamand buildingthoughtful succession pipelines.

    + Comfortoperatingwith ambiguity, making principled decisions with imperfect data, and balancing speed with rigor.

    + Passion for EDLP, customer trust, and building systems that scale.

    The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

    Minimum Qualifications...

    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, or related field and 6 years’ experience in data analytics, project management, business, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in data analytics, project management, business, or related area. 3 years’ experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office. 4 years’ supervisory experience.
