Position Summary
We are seeking a Director of Data Science to lead how machine learning and data science inform decision-making, automation, and continuous improvement across Last-Mile Delivery. This role focuses on evaluating ML/AI-driven decisions, shaping intelligent business workflows, and translating operational insights into scalable automation.
The Director of Data Science provides technical leadership, develops high-performing data science teams, and partners closely with Product, Operations, and Machine Learning Engineering teams.
What you'll do...
What You’ll Do
+ Set the data science and ML evaluation direction for Last-Mile Delivery, aligned to high-impact business priorities.
+ Lead evaluation and continuous improvement of ML/AI-driven decisions using operational outcomes and feedback loops.
+ Own the analytical design and validation of AI-enabled business workflows through experimentation, simulation, and scenario analysis.
+ Translate manual operational adjustments and heuristics into structured insights and automation opportunities.
+ Guide fine-tuning and decision-overlay logic that improves outcomes beyond base forecasts and models.
+ Detect patterns, exceptions, and failure modes in workflows, providing root-cause insights and recovery recommendations.
+ Partner with Product, Operations, and MLE teams to ensure insights inform scalable automation and model evolution.
+ Coach and develop data science talent, raising technical rigor and business ownership.
What You’ll Bring
+ Senior-level experience in data science, machine learning, or AI-driven decision systems.
+ Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, and analytical modeling, with sound technical judgment.
+ Experience influencing outcomes through insight and partnership rather than direct system ownership.
+ Proven ability to operate effectively in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
+ Clear, concise communication skills with technical and business stakeholders.
+ Track record of developing and mentoring high-performing data science teams.
Nice to Have
+ Experience in logistics, marketplaces, or operational decision systems.
+ Familiarity with AI-enabled automation, experimentation platforms, or scenario modeling.
+ Strong systems-thinking mindset and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.

Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
