Job description
Summary:
The industrialization engineer intern supports the review of industrialization projects to provide input on manufacturability. Once a design is finalized, this role is responsible for supporting the implementation of the designed manufacture process. The industrialization engineer intern will help drive continuous improvement to manufacturing processes with respect to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and reduce Cost and Inventory.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supports new equipment procurement projects.
• Reviews designs for manufacturability and implements controls for Critical to Quality characteristics
• Supports continuous improvement culture by implementing initiatives that improve quality, cost, and throughput to manufacturing processes.
• Drives 6S culture by improving and maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of new work area.
• Evaluates drawings, specifications, and other data to determine requirements for process improvements, requirements, and capital equipment purchases.
• Assists in development of production and testing procedures and equipment.
• Develops and creates process documentation for operators and customers.
• Expected to participate in troubleshooting activities to solve problems in the areas of electronics, electromechanical products, test setups, and test equipment.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
• Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.

Candidate skills & requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing and recently graduated from an applicable or related engineering degree
• Ability to read/understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills or other data processing program to analyze, trend, and drive actions based on data.
• Knowledge of 3D/CAD modeling software or the ability to learn.
• Ability to extract required information for test and troubleshooting from drawing, specifications and other technical publications.
• Able to use Microsoft Office as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with electromechanical products via school projects or additional activities
• Understanding of diverse manufacturing processes such as molding, machining, welding and assembly.
• Strong project management skills.
• Knowledge of electronic/electrical specifications and standards (commercial and military).
Physical Demands:
Stationary 40% / Mobility 60% / lifting 20% (up to 25 lbs)
Work Environment:
Equal split between office work and working on a production line building engineering orders.
