    Kelly Government Solutions is seeking a Cryogenics Plant Operator to support daily operations of the cryogenic plant.

     

    The operator will work under general supervision or guidance from senior Accelerator Technologists and perform intermediate complexity tasks in process monitoring, mechanical systems, instrumentation & controls, refrigeration/vacuum, and electrical/electronics.

     

    This is an onsite position requiring adherence to strict safety, operational, and Work Planning & Control (WPC) protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Operate and monitor cryogenic plant systems, making adjustments for optimal performance, efficiency, and availability.

    + Maintain accurate equipment records, log sheets, and operational documentation.

    + Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform maintenance on complex cryogenic systems, independently resolving operational issues.

    + Prepare reports on equipment performance, process health, and system status.

    + Collaborate with engineers, physicists, experimenters, and technical teams on design, installation, and system modifications.

    + Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, controllers, transducers, and control valves.

    + Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment for equipment maintenance and system analysis.

    + Perform preventive maintenance and functional analysis of cryogenic and support systems.

    + Work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and potential overtime.

    Required Qualifications

    + High School Diploma/GED, vocational school, or apprenticeship plus 3 years of mechanical/electrical experience (college, technical degree, or military training preferred).

    + Knowledge and experience in helium cryogenic processes and system control.

    + Ability to read and interpret instrumentation, piping, electrical, and electronic drawings.

    + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including occasional solo shift coverage.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical discussions with engineers, operators, vendors, and support staff.

    + Experience with Instrumentation & Controls, gas process systems, and electrical/electronic hardware.

    + Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.

    + Solid math and computer skills.

    + Valid California driver’s license for on-site vehicle operation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Familiarity with control system components such as PLCs, computers, and industrial communication networks.

    Work Environment

    + Onsite work within a cryogenic plant and accelerator facility, requiring adherence to strict safety and operational protocols.

    + Exposure to industrial process systems, refrigeration equipment, and radiation-controlled areas.
