ASSISTANT DIRECTOR AND PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, The Experimental Study Group (ESG), is in charge of all financial matters, academic administration, staff appointments, the day-to-day functioning of the ESG, is a First-Year Learning Community that serves approximately 55 first-year undergraduates and a teaching staff of 7 lecturers and ~40 upper-level teaching assistants and a host of activities related to academic organization and staff and student activities, and participates in long range strategic planning for future of the program. This position will carry out all financial administration, including account management and reconciliation, budget forecasting, payroll, and financials around staff appointments; act as a liaison with both the GUE Director for Finance and Director of Human Resources; oversee all aspects of HR-related matters, including staff and student appointments; carry out all academic administrative functions, including term subject planning, scheduling, seminar administration and advertising, grade reporting, and acts as liaison to MIT’s academic entities including the Registrar’s Office, the Committee on Curriculum, and the Undergraduate Advising Center.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a minimum of three years administrative/financial experience or equivalent; strong administrative and organizational skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to prioritize and juggle multiple diverse tasks; strong interpersonal skills; proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, Microsoft Excel and Word; facility with written communication; ability to learn MIT’s software platforms related to administrative tasks. PREFERRED: Expertise with MIT’s financial systems; experience with student population; or tech or AI experience.
