Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director of Nursing Operations has overall accountability for the following areas: Staffing, Float Pool, House Supervisors, Rapid Response Team, Wound Care Team, Patient Safety Attendants, Monitor Techs, Transporters, Patient Throughput, and others as determined by the CNO. The Director of Nursing Operations has the responsibility to coordinate/facilitate action steps/direct referrals/etc. of clinical issues and expected outcomes. The Director of Nursing Operations coordinates the needs of the Nursing Administrative office through budget planning and overall supervision of practice and administrative issues.
What you will do in the role:
+ Accepts primary responsibility for Special Program assignment by CNO. Examples include:
+ Regulatory preparation/processes
+ Procedural development assistance with new services
+ When requested, serves as a resource/contact for other areas of the organization
+ Independently seeks opportunity to identify and actively streamline inefficiencies in Nursing areas through action plans and follow-up with Directors of involved areas
+ Coordinates/prioritizes plans through the CNO to assure organizational objectives are in line
+ Collects data for the staffing indicators and reports at the Nurse Staffing Council on a quarterly basis
+ Serves as Nurse Leader on call as assigned
+ Collects sitter data and reports as needed
+ Facility Administrator for AAS Scheduler
+ Assures nursing departments adhere to budget projections by reviewing daily operating reports
+ Maintains productivity within acceptable benchmarks and provides variance information to CNO
+ Reviews and supports Nursing Directors in developing and updating department Facility Position Controls
+ Supports and acts as a resource for Department Directors when the need is identified
+ Acts as a liaison for the CNO when immediate contact with the CNO is unavailable
+ Visits department/staff unit meetings as requested/necessary to improve visibility and communication with the staff
+ Understands and clarifies, as needed, boundaries of the role, yet maintains maximum flexibility in coordination of programs
+ Maintains/initiates frequent updates to CNO routinely and on an as needed basis 24 hours a day.
+ Presents in a leadership role, the ambition to positively coordinate the talents of multiple Directors and staff to maximize work outcomes and improve patient care
+ Identifies trends, patterns, and issues necessitating follow-up and resolution
+ Provides support to the CNO as designated, may include coverage at meetings as requested by CNO
+ Demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures
What qualifications you will need:
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support
+ (RN) Registered Nurse license required
+ Bachelors Degree required
+ Masters Degree required
+ 5+ years experience in an acute care hospital required.
+ Current with JCAHO/Medicare/regulatory agency requirements, and Texas State Board rules and regulations for the practice of Nursing required.
+ Department Director level experience with working/application of knowledge of PI theory required.
