    As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you will plan, develop, and execute comprehensive programs to protect employees, visitors, and patients from environmental safety and health hazards under general supervision. This role includes conducting construction rounds, startup inspections, permit evaluations, readiness rounds, and indoor air quality assessments while reviewing SERS and blotter reports and addressing fire safety and hazardous materials needs. You will complete inspections and documentation in a timely manner, oversee hazardous waste handling and manifests, support fire drills and regulatory readiness, participate in walkthroughs with fire marshals and local fire departments, complete and share industrial hygiene reports, investigate incidents to identify root causes, and assist with closing OSHA or other regulatory agency reports to ensure ongoing compliance and safety across the organization.

     

    A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with no holiday requirements. Weekends will be required only when needed.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Use qualitative and quantitative analyses of products, systems, operations and activities to identify hazards and establish programmatic plans and goals.

    + Identify events, likelihood of occurrence, severity of results, risk and cost.

    + Collaborate with others during the preparation of risk assessments and associated action plans.

    + Participate in accident and incident investigations.

    + Provide consulting services to internal customers regarding safety, health and environmental hazards, controls, and regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, DOT, NFPA ,TJC, ODH, CMS and others).

    + Develop and conducts training programs.

    + Be responsible for one or more Joint Commission Environment of Care management plans.

    + Conduct audits of facilities and operations to ensure Environment of Care requirements are met.

    + Collect, analyze and maintain EHS data.

    + Maintain appropriate records for operational processes and regulatory agencies and submits required documents by established deadlines.

    + Manage direct reports or indirect personnel resources to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

    + Manage budget and contracted services as appropriate.

    + Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials management, environmental science, one of the physical sciences, or a related field

    + Must possess a valid driver's license and personal transportation

    + Minimum 3 years experience in a Healthcare or safety field

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Master's degree

    + Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and/or other safety certification is preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    + Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

    + Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.

    + May require extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting.

    + Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00

     

    Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
