The- **Director of Operations** -is a key leader within the Coated Abrasives Management Team, responsible for ensuring the safe, consistent, and high-quality performance of our multi-site manufacturing operations. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement in safety, cost efficiency, and productivity while collaborating with all manufacturing functions and closely working with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other departments to enhance the customer experience.
The Director will lead the development and reinforcement of our manufacturing systems to meet objectives in safety, profitability, manufacturing KPIs, quality, and cost reductions. Focus on advancing our continuous improvement model and enhancing capabilities to adapt to changing market demands. By fostering a customer-focused, accountable, and agile organization, the Director will inspire a World Class Manufacturing (WCM) culture that drives operational excellence and leads the evolution of our state-of-the-art operations and systems.
Manufacturing Operations:
+ Execute our manufacturing strategy, policies, and procedures to optimize production and logistics.
+ Provide leadership and coordination for all production operations, ensuring Plant Managers meet KPIs aligned with our regional strategies and budgets.
+ Manage supply chain, materials, quality assurance, safety, and process engineering to ensure seamless operations.
+ Determine the best manufacturing locations based on quality, cost, and operational excellence.
+ Develop manufacturing policies and forecast manpower and facility needs to support our growth.
+ Lead operations in S&OP to improve service delivery and standardize metrics across all sites.
+ Ensure inventory controls and develop production time and quality standards that meet our high expectations.
+ Create comprehensive business continuity plans to mitigate risks in manufacturing processes.
+ Drive the adoption of WCM standards and coordinate policy deployment with plant managers.
+ Foster a self-directed, customer-centric organization that embraces change.
Continuous Improvement/WCM:
+ Lead the evolution of operations and systems (Mfg. 4.0), including site evaluations and workforce planning.
+ Define and implement WCM/Continuous Improvement governance and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
+ Identify and implement solutions for waste reduction and quality enhancement, focusing on workflow improvements and automation.
+ Champion a WCM environment that empowers frontline employees and promotes a culture of learning and adaptability.
Planning & Budget:
+ Strategic Planning: Develop operational plans and budgets that drive performance and align with our business goals.
+ Budget Management: Oversee operational budgets and CAPEX planning across all sites, prioritizing investments for maximum impact.
+ Collaborative Development: Participate in the creation of annual and long-term plans as part of our extended management team.
People & Safety:
+ Cultivate Culture: Lead the development and engagement of our operations workforce through trust, empowerment, and collaboration.
+ HR Partnership: Work with HR and plant leadership to design effective programs that motivate employees and support career development.
+ Safety Leadership: Implement safety management systems that address all aspects of EHS compliance.
+ Set Safety Goals: Develop safety objectives and KPIs to track adherence and progress across all facilities.
+ Ensure Compliance: Maintain a safe and environmentally compliant workplace for all employees.
+ A bachelor's degree, preferably in materials, manufacturing, chemical, or mechanical engineering, is required
+ A master's degree in business or a related technical field is required or a combination of education and work experience in lieu of a master's degree is required
+ A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in a manufacturing organization, including prior plant management or multi-site responsibility, is required
+ A minimum of 5 years of experience in Change Management, designing, executing, and transforming manufacturing sites, including integration of new acquisitions, is required
+ A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and developing others is required

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $195,000 to $312,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 36% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position is $265,800 to $425,000. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee. This role may also be eligible to participate in the Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program which is awarded annually at management’s discretion.
