    Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Trainer

     

    Department: Maintenance

     

    Reports To: Maintenance Manager

     

    FLSA Status: Salary- Non-Exempt

    SUMMARY

    The Maintenance Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for maintenance personnel (including apprentices). This includes both formal classroom instruction and hands-on practical training. The role ensures that maintenance staff are equipped with the necessary technical skills, safety knowledge, and procedural understanding to perform their duties effectively and safely.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    + Training Program Development

    + Design and deliver training programs for maintenance staff.

    + Develop course outlines, objectives, and instructional materials.

    + Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions.

    + Coordinate third-party training providers and support the apprenticeship program.

    + Technical Instruction

    + Train staff on new equipment, tools, and technologies.

    + Provide refresher courses and safety training (e.g., confined space, lift operations).

    + Conduct required training for junior mechanics and apprentices.

    + Evaluation & Compliance

    + Assess employee skill levels and training needs.

    + Monitor and audit training effectiveness.

    + Maintain training records.

    + Support & Coordination

    + Assist in developing technical specifications for new equipment.

    + Collaborate with stores and inventory teams to ensure training materials and parts are available.

    + Administrative Duties

    + Track employee participation and certification status.

    + Prepare reports and correspondence related to training activities.

    + Must be willing to travel to receive outside training for development of in-house training.

    + Must be able to provide training on off shifts and weekends.

    + Strong communication and public speaking abilities.

    + Proficiency in instructional design and adult learning principles.

    + Familiarity with maintenance software

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    + Must have experience in training or instructional roles.

    + Previous industrial maintenance experience, preferred.
