Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Professional to coordinate and administer Site Safety Programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety and occupational health standards and procedures. This role involves supporting assigned operating units with safety training and permitting. The Safety Professional will provide leadership to ensure all employees return 'Home Healthy – Home Safe' each shift. The position requires travel, and a company vehicle or allowance will be provided.

Responsibilities

+ Investigate any incident or near miss and report findings to the General Contractor.

+ Attend safety meetings as required by the General Contractor.

+ Conduct regular safety meetings with tradespersons to instruct them on project safety practices and requirements.

+ Conduct written daily safety inspections of work activities and make them available for review to ensure compliance with safe work practices.

+ Take direction from the General Contractor related to timely abatement and control of hazards.

+ Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response.

+ Conduct site inspections and ensure all corrective actions are tracked to closure.

+ Perform job safety analysis and maintain jobsite-specific safety plans.

+ Coach and teach safety across the region.

+ Conduct safety training sessions.

+ Complete any additional assignments deemed appropriate by the Health & Safety Manager.

Essential Skills

+ Five years of construction experience, with at least one year of on-site safety responsibilities.

+ Specialized training relevant to the scope of work.

+ OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Training or greater.

+ Working knowledge of construction safety regulations and hazard control methods.

+ Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training.

+ Strong computer knowledge and skills.

+ Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

+ Strong tracking and follow-up skills.

+ Self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication abilities.

+ Knowledge of risk, liability, and safety management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in coaching and teaching safety.

+ Capability to lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite opportunity with the potential to earn substantial overtime as projects are time-sensitive. The position involves working 60-hour weeks with staggered shifts to ensure coverage, and there is a focus on getting set up and ready for work starting in Q1 of 2026. The role offers a competitive environment with the opportunity to work on a significant project and the possibility of becoming a permanent team member. If transitioned to a permanent role, per diem is available for non-local projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fairfax, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
