Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Solidworks to produce part drawings for mechanical assemblies, specifically for street sweepers. The role involves ensuring all designs conform to drawing standards and specifications, with hands-on activities on the manufacturing floor to verify dimensions and address design issues during production. The engineer will primarily focus on sheet metal parts, including bearings, races, cylinders, part casings, and basic body parts.

Responsibilities

+ Create detailed part drawings for mechanical assemblies using Solidworks.

+ Ensure all designs meet drawing standards and specifications.

+ Conduct hands-on checks on the manufacturing floor to verify dimensions and address any design-related issues.

+ Produce drawings primarily for sheet metal parts used in street sweepers.

+ Collaborate with the manufacturing team to observe machines and take necessary measurements.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Solidworks.

+ Experience in sheet metal design and mechanical engineering.

+ Strong understanding of mechanical design principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor of Science degree.

+ Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical design.

+ Experience working with heavy industrial equipment, mobile vehicles, or heavy trucks.

+ Experience with machining and designing for sweepers or sewers.

Work Environment

The position involves working both in an engineering lab and on the manufacturing floor. The work environment is collaborative and feedback-driven. The engineering lab encourages teamwork and active participation, while the manufacturing floor demands practical engagement to ensure design accuracy. The typical workday is from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with some opportunities for overtime. The plant opens as early as 4:00 AM, offering flexible hours.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of HUNTSVILLE, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
