In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing next-generation aerospace systems, contributing directly to the creation of an advanced platform that will redefine performance, survivability, and mission capability. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on innovation and precision—someone who can blend deep mechanical engineering expertise with creative problem-solving to push the boundaries of what modern aircraft can achieve.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the development and refinement of complex aircraft structures, aerodynamic components, and integrated mechanical systems.
+ Collaborate closely with specialists in aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials, and manufacturing to ensure that every system meets demanding performance, safety, and reliability standards.
+ Drive the full product lifecycle, from early conceptual design and analysis through testing, certification, and production.
+ Contribute to a wide range of advanced technologies, from mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated airframes and emerging aerospace concepts.
+ Translate Navy capability requirements into system requirements.
+ Build and manage the requirements traceability matrix (RTM).
+ Develop CONOPS, system architectures, and interface definitions.
+ Lead PDR/CDR planning and risk reduction.
+ Perform trade studies focusing on weight, power, cost, and survivability.
+ Engage in systems engineering tasks, including decomposition, MBSE, DOORS, MATLAB, and trade studies.
Essential Skills
+ Strong understanding of core engineering principles such as mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, and structural analysis.
+ Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools, including CATIA, NX, Creo, and SolidWorks.
+ Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and basic Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
+ Ability to apply and interpret GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
+ Knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including parametric modeling and model-based definition.
+ Familiarity with aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and production methods.
+ Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
+ Ability to interpret and flow down requirements in a structured systems engineering environment.
+ Hands-on experience with testing, verification, and validation of components or systems.
+ Background in aerospace or defense development environments.
+ Roughly 10+ years of relevant experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Expertise in GD&T, FEA, CFD, thermal analysis, or model-based definition.
+ Experience in aerospace or defense development.
