Job Title: DrafterJob Description
Prepare detailed structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and bills of material in accordance with contract documents, specifications, and applicable codes. Interpret architectural and structural design drawings to develop accurate fabrication and erection details.
Responsibilities
+ Coordinate with Operations, Project Managers, Engineers, and Fabrication to resolve design conflicts and constructability issues.
+ Incorporate revisions and respond to RFIs, change orders, and field modifications in a timely manner.
+ Ensure drawings comply with company standards, customer requirements, and industry codes (AISC, AWS, etc.).
+ Support fabrication and erection teams by clarifying details and providing technical assistance as needed.
+ Maintain drawing logs, revision histories, and project documentation.
+ Assist Operations in meeting production schedules by prioritizing detailing tasks and deliverables.
+ Participate in internal reviews to improve detailing accuracy, efficiency, and standardization.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and steel fabrication.
+ Experience in 3D modeling, drafting, and structural steel detailing.
+ At least 2+ years of drafting experience within steel fabrication.
+ Experience with SDS2, Tekla Structures, SolidWorks, or similar software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to work on 3+ projects simultaneously.
+ Experience with 3D modeling of components and assemblies.
Work Environment
Work hours are Monday to Friday, either from 7 AM to 4 PM or 8 AM to 5 PM. The drafter will be the only drafter on the team and needs to be able to hit the ground running and interact with the shop for production. The position involves working closely with the shop to ensure production efficiency.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
