Back Office Medical Assistant
Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-Time)
About the Role
Our team is seeking a reliable, adaptable, and technically skilled Back Office Medical Assistant to support an experienced provider. This role requires someone who is comfortable working with a colon and rectal specialist, assisting with sensitive procedures, and able to navigate a fast-paced outpatient environment with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide dedicated back-office support to an older physician, including assisting with computer navigation and EMR tasks.
+ Assist with rectal and anal examinations, in-office procedures, and scopes; maintain patient comfort and dignity throughout.
+ Prepare exam rooms, perform patient intake, obtain vitals, and ensure accurate documentation.
+ Triage patient calls, handle clinical phone lines, and address patient concerns with professionalism.
+ Maintain instrument cleaning, supply management, and adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
+ Follow provider direction and respond openly to feedback.
Required Qualifications
+ Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent).
+ Verified High School Diploma or GED.
+ Active BLS/CPR certification.
+ Strong computer proficiency; must be comfortable supporting a provider with system navigation.
+ Athena EMR experience required.
+ Excellent professional communication skills—written, verbal, and phone-based.
+ Must be comfortable working in a colon and rectal specialty, with exposure to sensitive exams and procedures.
+ Ability to take direction, adapt to feedback, and work independently across multiple sites.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in colorectal surgery, gastroenterology, general surgery, or high-volume specialty clinics.
+ Strong phone triage skills and comfort managing multiple priorities.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
