Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Los Angeles, California. This role is critical to maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of a leading organization in the real estate and property industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, as well as the ability to oversee and optimize key financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Conduct detailed balance sheet and account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data.
• Oversee compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, especially for governmental entities.
• Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and maintain accurate financial reporting.
• Monitor and manage cash flow activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Review lease contracts and implement their financial terms effectively.
• Collaborate with corporate controllers and external auditors to facilitate annual audits.
• Provide leadership to the accounting team, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to priorities. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proficiency with accounting software, with a preference for experience in Xytech or Yardi Breeze.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.
• In-depth knowledge of lease contracts across office, stage, event, and film sectors.
• Solid understanding of financial principles such as debits and credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and cash flow management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an accounting team while managing multiple priorities.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
• Exceptional organizational skills with experience in document control, scanning, and compiling financial documents.
