Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. This role will focus on analyzing manufacturing costs, improving financial processes, and providing insights into cost trends and operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cost accounting and a strong background in the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze product costs, labor, materials, and overhead to identify variances and determine root causes.

• Develop and maintain accurate standard costs for products, components, and manufacturing processes.

• Conduct in-depth inventory valuation and ensure reconciliation between physical inventory and system records.

• Review and update bills of materials (BOMs) and routings to guarantee accuracy.

• Provide detailed cost models and analyses to support new product launches and RFQ proposals.

• Prepare monthly reports highlighting gross margin performance, cost trends, and efficiency metrics.

• Collaborate with leadership to propose strategies for cost reduction and operational improvements.

• Ensure compliance with internal policies, controls, and audit requirements related to costing.

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing cost centers.

• Assist with system upgrades or implementations related to costing modules

Requirements • Proven experience in cost accounting, including variance analysis and financial reporting.

• Solid understanding of standard cost accounting principles within a manufacturing environment.

• Expertise in inventory valuation and reconciliation processes.

• Proficiency in analyzing production costs and proposing cost-saving strategies.

• Strong ability to interpret cost trends and efficiency metrics.

• Experience with budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing operations.

• Familiarity with ERP systems and costing modules.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; certifications demonstrating attention to detail are a plus.
