Description We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Fort Collins, Colorado. In this Contract to permanent role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and providing meaningful insights to support management decision-making. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing technical expertise with a collaborative approach to mentoring and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare journal entries, perform account and bank reconciliations, and manage month-end closing activities.
• Analyze financial statements and provide detailed variance reports to assist management in decision-making.
• Generate accurate and timely management and statutory reports, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with external auditors during interim and year-end audits, ensuring all required documentation is readily available.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and various ad-hoc financial analysis projects to guide strategic planning.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and associated sub-ledgers, ensuring data accuracy.
• Research complex accounting issues, interpret findings, and recommend appropriate actions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced accounting staff to support their growth. Requirements • Expertise in month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of general ledger management and account reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics and experience handling monthly sales tax reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
• Knowledge of statutory accounting principles and compliance requirements.
• Experience collaborating with auditors and preparing audit documentation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
