    Senior Network Engineer

     

    Hybrid - 3 days onsite | Austin, TX | Contract

     

    Our client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a high‑performing technical team responsible for the coordination, delivery, and support of core and client-facing network services. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing network infrastructure while introducing new technologies to enhance stability, security, and performance across the environment. This position requires a lead engineer who thrives in complex environments, brings strong hands-on expertise across multiple network technologies, and is committed to delivering reliable, secure connectivity for end users.

    Responsibilities:

    Core Infrastructure

     

    + Manage and troubleshoot enterprise data center and campus switching systems (Cisco Nexus and related platforms).

     

    Security & Edge

     

    + Configure and maintain next-generation firewalls, including Cisco FirePower and Fortinet solutions.

    + Manage SD-WAN policies to support branch connectivity and performance.

     

    Application Delivery

     

    + Administer application delivery controllers/load balancers to ensure availability and optimal performance (F5 BIG-IP).

     

    Cloud & Disaster Recovery

     

    + Support and maintain cloud networking components, including private connectivity and virtual networks.

    + Plan and execute disaster recovery testing within cloud environments to support business continuity.

     

    Access Control

     

    + Maintain network access control systems (e.g., Cisco ISE) for secure authentication and endpoint compliance.

     

    Wireless

     

    + Manage enterprise wireless environments across office and branch locations (e.g., Meraki).

     

    Automation

     

    + Build and maintain network automations using Python or Ansible to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

     

    Observability

     

    + Proactively monitor network health using network monitoring platforms and native cloud tools.

     

    Documentation

     

    + Maintain accurate inventories, diagrams, and configuration documentation as the single source of truth.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

    + 8+ years of experience as a Network Engineer within a complex enterprise environment

    + CCNP (or equivalent hands-on experience) required

    Demonstrated expertise working with:

    + Cisco Nexus / Data Center Switching (NX‑OS)

    + F5 BIG-IP (LTM/GTM)

    + Fortinet FortiGate & SD-WAN solutions

    + Cisco FirePower (FMC/FTD)

    + Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine)

    + Cloud networking fundamentals, including Microsoft Azure networking and Site Recovery

    + Cisco Meraki wireless technologies

    + Scripting or automation experience (Python or Ansible)
