    Test Engineer

     

    Onsite | Austin, TX | Contract-to-Hire

     

    Our client is seeking a Test Engineer, who specializes in automation, to join their onsite team in Austin. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web-based applications using modern tools and frameworks. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, product owners, and QA team members to ensure the quality, reliability, and stability of external-facing systems. This position supports Agile delivery practices and plays a key role in accelerating release cycles through robust, scalable automation.

    Responsibilities

    + Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases for web applications

    + Create and maintain SQL scripts for test data setup, validation, and analysis

    + Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing

    + Collaborate with developers, QA peers, and product owners to understand requirements and define automation strategies

    + Analyze and troubleshoot test failures; clearly document and communicate defects

    + Participate in code reviews and contribute feedback related to testability and quality

    + Enhance and optimize test frameworks, tooling, and automation processes

    + Document test approaches, coverage, and automation architecture

    + Support manual and exploratory testing as needed

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

    + 3+years of professional experience in software test automation

    + Practical experience with Playwright, TypeScript, and SQL

    + Hands-on experience developing automated tests for web applications

    + Proficiency with Playwright or similar automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress)

    + TypeScript or JavaScript development skills

    + Ability to write and debug SQL queries for test data scenarios

    + Familiarity with version control tools such as Git

    + Understanding of Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle

    + Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira, or comparable tools
