FUNCTION:
This position serves as the manager of all quality control functions, including inspection and metrology. The Quality Control Manager serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for all inspection (non-NDT) and metrology related activities.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
+ Inspection processes are controlled such that product conformity is accurately verified as early in the process as possible.
+ Resources are deployed to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of inspection operations.
+ Nonconformances are documented accurately and in a timely manner, and affected product is contained accordingly.
+ Appropriate inspection technologies are available and employed to ensure efficiency of inspection processes.
+ Calibration activities are carried out per industry standards, and in an efficient and timely manner to ensure coverage of production and inspection operations.
+ Final production records are complete and accurate, and ready for processing by Quality Assurance.
+ Regulatory audits are supported as required by regulatory bodies and standards.
+ Adherence to manufacturing and inspection processes is monitored and corrected as necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Monitors efficiency and effectiveness of inspection methods selected during planning while seeking opportunities to eliminate redundancy or nonvalue-added activity.
+ Provides assistance and guidance on metrology related items to Quality Assurance.
+ Establishes controls to monitor performance and goal attainment both departmentally and for direct reports.
+ Supports development of departmental strategy and vision.
+ Provides leadership to the Quality Control organization, ensuring moral and engagement of QC personnel is maximized.
+ Manages and administers the Quality Control training program, ensuring training is effective and appropriate for the inspection operations being performed.
+ Ensures the inspection capabilities of individual inspectors are identified and tracked, and that training goals are in place to close any gaps in individual skills.
+ Maintains a growing knowledge of inspection philosophies and technologies to ensure GTC capabilities remain on par with industries served.
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
EXPERIENCE/SKILL:
+ 10 years of experience in quality related disciplines, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
+ Supervisory experience of a technical function, preferably in a defense based manufacturing environment.
+ Demonstrated experience with successful completion of quality improvement activities and projects.
RELATIONSHIPS:
+ Must develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, management, and customer representatives.
