About the role The Global Commodity Manager (GCM) oversees financial and operational performance for the Mechanical category, including supplier selection and management of cost, quality, and delivery. The GCM develops and executes a global commodity strategy supporting the BU operations plan. The strategy will include input from business unit stakeholders to ensure alignment on who we partner to support material requirements. Operating independently with guidance from the VP of Sourcing and BU leadership, the GCM serves as a departmental expert, mentoring buyers and engaging frequently with Leviton’s senior management. Responsibilities Ensure Quality Programs exist at all suppliers so that quality standards will meet or exceed the requirements of the product and corrective measures are implemented immediately upon notification of any failure. Perform negotiations and determine the most competitive and best solutions. Responsible for attaining cost reduction objectives annually. Develop, communicate, and execute comprehensive commodity strategies. Effective communication to senior leadership and other functional groups Understand global market trends and their strategic impact on mechanical categories. Collaborate with Leviton Legal to draft and execute domestic and international supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with the country and local business practices. Knowledgeable in IP, indemnification, and liability. Lead cross-functional teams, leveraging team strengths and dynamics. Ability to manage multi-location and global projects. Create value stream maps and apply advanced financial analysis. Manage supplier relationships, facilitate business performance review and cost-reduction sessions. Supports department and individual goals, drive achievement of annual objectives. Applies supply chain and sourcing best practices; develops cost models (Should Cost, TCO, indexed price mechanism). Provides guidance on purchasing concepts and procedures. May supervise and mentor buyers. Qualifications Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and Teams; may have advanced skills in the use of these applications. Skilled in analysis, finance, cash management, and supply chain Knowledge of the use of electronic collaboration tools Creative and resourceful, able to think independently, problem solve, offer solutions, and generate management reports. Attentive to details and possess good judgement. Organized and effectively manage time and work prioritization. Ability to make routine decisions on purchase orders and invoices, while escalating pricing, supplier selection, and major process decisions to sourcing leadership. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently to an audience. Maintains a professional representation of Leviton in all interactions. Ability to collaborate across all levels to develop solutions, resolve issues, and prepare management reports. Bilingual in English and Spanish, with full proficiency in both languages preferred. Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering or a bachelor's degree in a related field with successful CPM, CPSM, or CPIM certification MBA preferred Minimum of 6 years of work experience At least 5 years’ experience in sourcing, demonstrated performance and leadership competency driving strategy, operations performance results, and cost management. Skilled in managing and/or leading multi-location and global projects. General knowledge of metal stamping, machining, fasteners, and other mechanical processes. Experience building supplier networks, traveling to, and establishing relationships to support Leviton’s business needs. Experience in identifying and developing local suppliers within the Mexico region. Experience traveling to international locations and creating relationships in those areas to best suit Leviton's needs. Travel Travel is required to suppliers and Leviton plants. Up to 30% travel (including international) What We Offer Salary will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
