Intermediate Cable Technician

Overview

TEKsystems Inc. is looking for a reliable and skilled Telecommunications Technician to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecom systems. This role begins as a 6‑month contract with the potential to become a long‑term position. You’ll receive full benefits, professional support, and opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

+ Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and cabling.

+ Perform routine system checks and troubleshoot network or connectivity issues.

+ Configure and program telecom devices such as routers, switches, VoIP phones, and PBX systems.

+ Work with team members to ensure smooth and reliable network performance.

+ Provide hands‑on technical support to end‑users and resolve service issues.

+ Keep accurate records of equipment, service calls, and installation activities.

+ Follow all safety guidelines and industry standards.

+ Stay informed about new technologies and best practices in the telecom field.

Required Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications are a plus).

+ Previous experience in telecommunications, low‑voltage cabling, or a related field.

+ Knowledge of Cat5/Cat6 cabling, routers, switches, and basic networking.

+ Familiarity with VoIP systems, PBX setups, and common network protocols.

+ Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.

+ Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.

+ Able to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

+ Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gallatin, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
