Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities
+ Assist the Director of the Preventing Suicide Initiative/Director of Hospital-based Research in setting up future national and global centers of excellence for suicide prevention, healthcare quality and integrated/collaborative care research at the University of Colorado School of Medicine
+ Perform innovative, programmatic research that will advance understanding, assessment, prevention, and treatment of behavioral health issues in youth, including self-injury and suicide.
+ Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of investigators and trainees, including a network of external collaborators, as supported by grant and foundation funding.
+ Contribute to the development of innovative clinical, educational, and research programs related to youth mental health and suicide to enhance the local and national reputation of CAMH Division.
+ Establish new partnerships and strengthen existing partnerships with on campus (e.g., ACCORDS Costing Core, Farley Health Policy Center, Rocky Mountain VA MIRREC Suicide Prevention), non-academic partners (e.g., community, clinical leaders, advocacy groups, etc.) to work toward the common goal of improving youth and family mental health in Colorado and nationally.
+ Demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring colleagues and training the next cadre of scientists and physicians.
+ Maintain a robust record of funding, ranging from contracts to grant funding from various sources including federal and non-federal sources.
+ Formulate strategies, best practices, and other approaches that are scalable for implementation in clinical and community settings, to improve health and health care at a population level.
+ Support faculty recruitment and the infrastructure for faculty development.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as economics, health policy, or epidemiology.
+ Minimum of 15 years of research experience in mental health care and suicide prevention in healthcare, community, and/or school contexts.
Track:
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Demonstrated experience conducting economic evaluations of health care interventions, analyses of disease burden and intervention opportunities, and research on identifying and overcoming barriers to implementing effective interventions in real-world care.
+ Demonstrated experience designing and conducting rigorous pragmatic research, including costing, in the areas of treatment of behavioral health conditions in population health, pediatrics/primary care, suicide prevention and/or interventions for self-injurious and suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Strong knowledge of ethical principles in conducting research with high-risk populations. Experience with institutional review boards.
+ Proven success of securing sustained contract or grant funding from state or federal agencies (e.g. DHHS, AHRQ, NIH, CMS, CDC, SAMHSA, HRSA, VA, DOD, ED) or large foundation (PCORI, RWJ, WTG) is preferred.
+ Proven ability to lead multi-partner initiatives and collaborations. Experience building collaborative relationships and ensuring cohesiveness among various entities, programs, and groups.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports and presentations about data and complex issues. Ability to effectively communicate with faculty/staff, healthcare providers, administrators, and community partners.
+ Demonstrated scientific stature in peer-review publications and service to professional organizations.
+ Strong commitment to education and track record of mentoring trainees and other staff.
+ Proven administration and/or leadership abilities, including ability to lead medium to large-sized projects or study teams with six or more staff.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) Division of the Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full-time senior faculty member at the Professor rank to lead our efforts in advancing research related to mental health services, epidemiology and economics. We particularly seek applicants with expertise in suicide prevention, integrated care, and cost estimation research to support the Division's major initiatives in these areas. The faculty member should have a track record of successfully obtaining federal funding for relevant research, publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, implementing research and building partnerships to improve population health and health care and to shape healthcare policy, and providing mentorship to trainees and junior faculty.::This position reports to the Director of Suicide Prevention and Hospital-Based Research and the Chair of the CAMH Division of the Department of Psychiatry.:This position will act as Deputy Director to our Director of the Preventing Suicide Initiative and of Hospital-Based Research, and assist with managing a multidisciplinary team of investigators and trainees.
