Forklift Operator, Thomaston, GA

Interfor is seeking a safety-minded, skilled, and motivated **Forklift Operator** to join our team in **Thomaston** , **GA** in our Shipping Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to move, load, and organize products throughout the mill, supporting efficient and smooth production operations. The pay rate for this position is $21.97 per hour.

What You’ll Do

+ Operate forklifts safely in compliance with all Interfor, OSHA, and MOPED safety standards and guidelines.

+ Move inventory and materials across company facilities, stacking and organizing large bulk items efficiently.

+ Work collaboratively with team members to load and unload materials safely.

+ Update inventory activity, logs, lists, and records accurately.

+ Identify damaged materials or replacements needed and report appropriately.

+ Address and clean up any spills or safety hazards before leaving the shift.

+ Perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections to ensure equipment is safe and operational.

+ Clean forklifts regularly using a pressure washer and assist with preventive maintenance tasks, including tire changes.

+ Follow all safety policies, job safety analyses, and standard operating procedures to prevent injuries and avoid damage to mill property.

+ Must be able to safely climb on top of railcars and be comfortable working in elevated areas.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or mill management.

+ Be available for occasional weekend work as required.

+ Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

What You Offer

+ Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification through a standard training course.

+ Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members and supervisors.

+ Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, following established procedures.
