    Job Description

    Who will you be working with?

     

    L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our Quality Assurance team. The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will work directly with the Welding department and have interactions with all other production departments, Management, Safety, Drafting, Production Engineering and Engineering and will report directly to the Quality Manager.

     

    How will you make a difference?

     

    This position will oversee the welding qualification program internally and externally. This position will work closely with new hires, existing employees and welding suppliers to ensure continued qualification to AWS D15.1 and B 2.2 criteria.

     

    What do we want to know about you?

     

    + Certification as a CWI or willingness to get certified within 1 year

    + Ability and willingness to work voluntary and scheduled overtime as well as flex onto various shifts as needed

    + Ability to read blueprints

    + Ability to use computer applications including Reliance, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

     

    What will your typical day look like?

     

    + Coordinate and/or oversee internal Welder Qualification program.

    + Coordinate and/or oversee external suppliers’ Welder Qualification program.

    + Coordinate weld machines and gas certification and re-certification.

    + Responsible for records of all welding certifications.

    + Responsible for testing and verifying welding coupons.

    + Training of welders that may be having a difficult time passing qualifications.

    + Responsible for the certification of all SP 128 Certified welders.

    + Assist in other areas as needed and qualified.

    + Perform work in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines/procedures.

    + Perform related work as required by Quality Manager.

    + Domestic and International travel may be required and could include weekend travel depending on the project.

    + Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

    + Adaptable to production floor work and requirements.

    + Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Entry Level:

    + Regular and reliable attendance.

    + Proficient data entry skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

    + Explain the meaning of information to others.

    + Perform administrative tasks.

    + Evaluate information against standards.

    + Develop goals and strategies.

    + Process, document, and record information.

    + Analyze data or information.

    + Carry out ideas, programs, systems, or products.

    + Make decisions and solve problems.

    + Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.

    + Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol, and background test.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Welding degree or 5 years’ experience in welding

    + Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP system.

    + Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma.

     

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

     

    This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.

    The hourly range for this role is between $28.00 - $37.00. The actual hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
