Job Description Summary
The Mechanical Design Engineer - Fuels will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and analysis of nuclear fuel products. This role requires collaboration with sourcing, fabrication and quality, thermal-mechanical analysts, material scientists, fuel experts, and nuclear/thermal-hydraulic analysis engineers to assure product perform within licensed and GNF performance expectations in a fast-paced environment.
The REQUIRED work location is our Headquarters in Wilmington, NC.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Create mechanical design solutions to support the development of new products & design modifications to improve existing products
+ Understand the fabrication processes forcomponentand assemblies, the post fabrication transportation and handling and the customer application requirements for fuel products and services
+ Prepare drawings and specifications for new and existing fuel designs
+ Identify,documentand lead the resolution of technical risks within each project
+ Providewell written, well organized documented engineering analyses to assure design adequacy
+ Perform design reviews and production readiness reviews
+ Address emergent customer and manufacturing issues
+ Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to support cost reduction activities
+ Design test procedures and perform testing to addresscomponentand assembly adequacy
+ Develop procedures and work to improve engineering productivity
+ Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
+ Assistand provide support to the team technical leader and functional manager to plan, status and execute projects
+ Perform work with high qualityin accordance withNRC regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
+ Effectively communicate and collaborate activities with other team members on technical issues
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’sin mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
+ Minimum1years of mechanical designor analysisexperience

Desire** **d** **Qualifications:
+ Basic understanding of BWR Nuclear Fuel
+ Expertisein drafting practices (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and 3D CAD) and analysis
+ Experience in FEA Analysis using Ansys or LS DYNA
+ Proventrack recordof problem-solving ability and ability to perform complex engineering analyses resulting in thorough and complete documentation
+ Strong communicationskills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
+ Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, vibration analysis, heat transfer, welding,statisticsand finite element analysis
+ Working knowledge of casting development/production
+ A self-starter willing to take initiatives
+ Ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information
+ Strong customer focus and clear understanding of nuclear industries

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
