MTA Metro-North Railroad is a dynamic organization, operating out of the jewel of New York City, Grand Central Terminal. JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of data-driven strategies that enhance operational performance and service delivery. The role oversees people, processes, and resources to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely data analysis and reporting. It also evaluates and integrates emerging technologies to improve data utilization, streamline workflows, and drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Lead and manage a team of technically skilled professionals, ensuring high performance, technical proficiency, productivity, and engagement. Provide clear guidance and oversight on complex technical processes, analytics, and reporting activities.
+ Oversee all operational data, analytics, and reporting initiatives, ensuring accuracy, consistency, alignment across systems and outputs, and adherence to legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
+ Manage the development and governance of comprehensive data and reporting frameworks, including technical documentation, workflows, data maps, data dictionaries, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that ensure accuracy, compliance, and standardization across the organization.
+ Monitor and validate team outputs to prevent errors and operational risks, maintaining cross-functional knowledge to support critical processes, practices, and procedures.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency, translating ideas into practical, scalable solutions.
+ Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data-driven technologies to continuously improve data utilization for analysis and reporting.
+ Collaborate with various MNR operating departments and MTA Agency-wide technical teams as needed to integrate new technologies, applications, or tools that improve data analysis and reporting capabilities.
+ Select, develop, and motivate staff and provide career development for team members. Provide effective coaching and counseling. Manage team and individual performance. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables staff to develop and contribute to their full potential.

+ Must be able to adjust work schedule to accommodate special projects as necessary, including periodic night shifts and weekend coverage.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically Power BI, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, or equivalent alternatives
+ Advanced technical expertise in data architecture, analytics, and reporting tools.
+ Experience in automating reporting and operational workflows.
+ Experience leading a high-performing technical team with cross-functional responsibilities.
+ Familiarity with performance metric design, monitoring, and analysis in an operational environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science , or related field. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education, and/or technical credentials to include an additional four (4) of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
+ Minimum 7 years of experience in data analytics, computer science to include five (5) of those years developing, implementing, and managing database systems, performing analysis and reporting.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience managing staff, projects and/or programs.

OTHER INFORMATION
+ Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
+ Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
+ Employees driving company vehicles will be subject to License Monitoring and must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
+ To be eligible for consideration for a new role, current MTA employees must complete at least one year of service in their current role prior to applying. Additionally, eligibility to interview is contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory record of job performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct.
