Job Description:
About the Role
You’ll support field and office activities across environmental consulting projects. Expect to learn industry‑standard sampling methods, data quality practices, and how technical findings become client‑ready reports and recommendations. Safety and quality are core to everything we do; you will participate in pre‑task planning and follow established procedures on every assignment.
What You’ll Do
+ **Field support & sampling:** Assist with collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, and air samples; operate basic field instruments; document observations and site conditions. Participate in utility coordination and site readiness where applicable.
+ **Data management:** Log chain‑of‑custody information, organize lab results, and prepare data tables/figures for internal review. Help with QA/QC checks to ensure data accuracy.
+ **Reporting & communication:** Draft sections of field notes and technical memos; contribute to environmental site assessments (Phase I/II ESA) by compiling records, photos, and figures; communicate progress with the project team.
+ **Safety & quality:** Complete pre‑task planning, follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures, and raise any safety concerns promptly. Participate in the firm’s quality management practices. (40‑hour safety training is provided prior to field work.)
+ **Logistics & support:** Transport equipment and documentation between office, field sites, and labs; assist technicians or professional staff on routine tasks; help set up equipment in the field.
Typical Project Exposure
Depending on office workload, you may gain exposure to: environmental site assessments (Phase I/II), natural resource surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos‑related work, stormwater management tasks, and permitting support.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; rising junior or senior preferred.
+ Strong attention to detail; ability to follow written procedures and document work clearly.
+ Proficiency with MS Excel/Word; familiarity with GIS a plus.
+ Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Physical/Travel Requirements
+ Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift/carry equipment as needed.
+ Local/regional travel to project sites; occasional early starts based on field schedules.
