Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – School-Based | San Ysidro School District

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Length: ~20 weeks (Through end of school year – 6/10)

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week | 8-hour days (8–5)

Setting: In-Person | K–6th Grade Location: Assigned to San Ysidro School District through SELPA

Pay Rate: Up to $45-50/hr (DOE)

Travel Weekly Pay: $2,260

Caseload: 60–70 students, a ssigned to 2–3 school sites within SYSD

About the Opportunity

Amergis is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join the San Ysidro School District—one of our highest-value partners in previous years. This is a high-priority, high-impact placement with strong potential for ongoing collaboration. You’ll work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to support elementary-aged students across 2–3 school sites, focusing on treatment implementation and helping students access their education through meaningful occupational therapy services. This is an excellent opportunity for COTAs who are passionate about pediatrics, school-based practice, and making a measurable difference in student success.

Position Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will:

+ · Provide school-based occupational therapy services to K–6 students

+ · Implement treatment plans and interventions

+ · Collect and report standardized assessment data

+ · Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district and professional standards

+ · Support students’ functional, academic, and developmental needs

+ · Collaborate with school staff as needed

+ · Focus primarily on treatment—IEP meeting attendance is not typically required

+ · Work alongside another COTA on staff for additional support

Minimum Requirements

+ · Current California COTA certification/licensure

+ · Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

+ · 1 year of experience preferred

+ · Pediatric or school-based experience preferred

+ · Must comply with all professional standards of practice

+ · Current CPR certification (if applicable)

+ · TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)

+ · Current health certificate (per contract/state regulation)

+ · Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

+ · Must be at least 18 years old

Preferred but not required:

+ · Experience with elementary-aged students

+ · Bilingual candidates encouraged but not required
