DISTRICT 58 - Unit 580 – LaSalle

The overall function of this position is to be responsible for supervising highway maintenance activities for LaSalle Parish. The incumbent will plan and conduct maintenance activities through unit foremen, confer with government officials and the general public in order to respond to complaints, and conduct biweekly inspections in order to establish priorities for scheduling work. The Superintendent will also assist the Transportation Operations Manager with annual road inspections in order to schedule major maintenance. This position is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance and servicing of equipment to maximize life, minimize downtime, and promote safe operation.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in the construction or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, railroad rights-of-way, levees, airport runways, taxi strips, parking aprons, or parking lots.
Note: A valid Class "D" license will be required upon appointment.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
-Plan and conduct maintenance activities in LaSalle Parish through unit foremen.
-Confer with Parish Maintenance Specialist, District Administrator, Area Engineer, and ADA of Operations regarding work progress, policies, personnel, equipment, and special assignments.
-Confer with District Training Specialist, Shop Superintendent, and ADA of Business in order to coordinate training efforts, equipment repairs, and to resolve work reporting and inventory management questions.
-Collaborate with districtwide forces to coordinate work efforts and materials usage between parish and districtwide crews.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as probational, job appointment, detail to special duty, or promotion of a current DOTD employee.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a CPG and will be filled as a Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent.
Work Schedule:Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Compensation:Depends on qualifications; at minimum $27.60/hour .
