Position Summary
The Extrusion Operator (Roll Mill) is responsible for feeding and/or removing rubber from associated extrusion equipment. The operator ensures safe and proper operation of the roll mill and extruder.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Maintains safe, clean, and orderly workplace per 3S standards.
+ Identify and resolve minor mechanical and quality problems.
+ Responsible for performing regular quality checks as per SOP.
+ Sets up and operates machine to mix and extrude rubber materials to form slugs according to specifications.
+ Starts machine and sets controls to regulate length and weight with a combination of such items as pressure and temperature.
+ Synchronizes speed of extrusion with pulling rubber according to specifications.
+ Examines product for defects, such as wrinkles, bubbles, burned rubber, contamination, and splits.
+ Verifies dimensions and weights of rubber product.
+ Measures extruded rubber for conformance to specifications.
+ Adjusts controls such as speed, weight, length, etc.
+ To obtain rubber of specified dimensions.
+ Operates forklift truck when needed.
+ Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with the ability to apply mathematical calculations to reach the proper recipe formulas and/or scale weight. Capability to convert Metric system measurements into American system of measurements or vice versa.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense with understanding to provide detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to be flexible with problem solving and reach resolutions appropriately.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to sharp objects, pinch points, and/or vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Steel/Composite toed shoes, eye and ear protection is company provided (within reason) and always worn in this area. The indoor temperature is not a climate-controlled environment and can be seasonably hot or cold depending on the weather temperatures outside.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
