UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a full-time Communication Facilitator to support Metropolitan Ears, Nose and Throat-UPMC Audiology Department Wexford/Passavant. This position will work Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4pm (25% travel between the Wexford location and Passavant location will be required).

Th ideal candidate is someone who is detail oriented and has great communication skills with willingness to troubleshoot. This position is a hands on clinical role working with Hearing Aids/cleaning/maintaining inventory supplies / along with patient documentation with great attention to detail. Care, compassion and teamwork are a must. This role will work closely with our Audiology team and Schedule Coordinator.

+ Provides direct care related to management of hearing loss and communication under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist. i.e. daily management and maintenance of hearing aids and personal listening devices, hearing screening, provision of non-custom amplification devices, education related to care and maintenance of devices, education related to communication strategies, etc.

+ Will act in a professional and respectful manner with patients, families, Audiologists, clinical staff, and other interprofessional colleagues.

+ The Communication Facilitator will integrate with Audiologists to manage patient communication challenges due to hearing loss. Must have interest in working closely with patients across the age range including geriatric populations and family members.

+ Suggest, design and implement facility-wide solutions for better communication in consultation with Audiologist.

+ Clerical duties that directly support patient care include checking in new devices, management of device deliveries/mail, verifying insurance coverage specific to amplification devices and communicating this information to the audiologist managing patient hearing aid purchase decision making, correspondence with industry partners and patients.
