UPMC Harrisburg is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to become part of our dedicated pharmacy team. This position works rotating day and evening shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
In this role, you will assist with the preparation and delivery of medications for patients of all ages. Under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician I supports medication preparation, dispensing, charging, and timely delivery throughout the hospital.
The Certified Pharmacy Technician role is an important step within the UPMC Pharmacy Career Ladder.

Responsibilities:
+ Prepare, repackage, label, and document medications, including non-sterile compounds and IV solutions, under pharmacist supervision
+ Accurately calculate, prepare, and label medications for dispensing, ensuring pharmacist review prior to distribution
+ Deliver medications to patient care areas and manage transfers, removals, interdepartmental orders, and automated dispensing cabinets
+ Inspect medication storage areas and remove expired or recalled medications with proper documentation
+ Handle controlled substances in compliance with all policies and procedures
+ Operate and troubleshoot pharmacy equipment and systems, including automated dispensing cabinets, pneumatic tube systems, and computers
+ Provide responsive customer service by answering phones, assisting staff, and monitoring pneumatic tube stations
+ Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy by restocking, cleaning work areas, and returning medications to inventory
+ Complete required documentation such as charge forms, medication credits, and departmental logs
+ Collaborate daily with nursing, physicians, and hospital staff while supporting UPMC's Mission, Vision, and performance improvement efforts
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Employment experience required (one of the following is required):
+ Prior pharmacy technician experience
+ College Degree (minimally an Associates degree) and previous related healthcare experience
+ Completion of a formal pharmacy technician certificate course
+ Completion of one full year of education at a college/university with an accredited school of pharmacy and enrolled in coursework working towards a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
