Epsilon Systems Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Motor Rewind Technician II in National City, CA.
Job Summary: The Motor Rewind Technician II performs intermediate‑level repair, rewind, and refurbishment of electric motors and rotating equipment, with a particular emphasis on applications commonly found in the ship repair and maritime industry. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to interpret schematics and work instructions, and a solid understanding of safety and quality standards in an industrial and shipyard environment. The Level II technician works with moderate independence and may assist in mentoring junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities
+ Disassemble electric motors and rotating equipment to assess condition and determine required repairs.
+ Perform coil removal, cleaning, and core preparation using approved shop and shipyard practices.
+ Wind, form, and install coils for AC and DC motors used in marine systems, auxiliary equipment, and shipboard machinery.
+ Operate bake ovens, dip tanks, and test equipment in accordance with safety and environmental procedures.
+ Conduct electrical testing such as surge, hipot, and resistance checks to verify motor integrity.
+ Reassemble motors with proper alignment, torque specifications, and documentation.
+ Inspect bearings, shafts, housings, and mechanical components for wear and tolerance compliance.
+ Support ship repair projects by coordinating with shipyard personnel, marine electricians, and project managers.
+ Maintain accurate repair records including measurements, test results, and materials used.
+ Follow all safety, environmental, and quality standards required in both shop and shipyard environments.
+ Assist with on‑site motor removal and installation aboard vessels when required.
Required Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ 2-4 years of experience in motor rewinding or electric motor repair.
+ Experience working in the ship repair or maritime industry, including familiarity with shipboard systems and equipment.
+ Working knowledge of AC and DC motor construction and rewinding techniques.
+ Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work orders with minimal supervision.
+ Proficiency with shop tools and equipment such as coil winders, presses, and test instruments.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
+ Ability to work in shipyard environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas, following all safety protocols.
+ Ability to lift and move components in accordance with shop and shipyard safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with marine‑grade motors, propulsion support systems, or auxiliary shipboard equipment.
+ Certification in motor repair, electrical maintenance, or maritime trades from a recognized program.
+ Familiarity with ABS, NAVSEA, or other maritime standards.
+ Basic machining or balancing experience.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $28.00 To $36.00 per hour. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

+ Ability to stand for extended periods while performing motor disassembly, winding, and testing tasks.
+ Ability to lift, carry, and move components typically up to 50 lbs., using proper lifting techniques or mechanical assistance.
+ Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and reach to access motors, equipment, and shipboard locations.
+ Ability to work in confined spaces or elevated areas when performing ship repair or onboard service.
+ Manual dexterity to handle tools, wiring, and precision components.
+ Visual acuity to read schematics, measure components, and inspect equipment.
+ Hearing ability to respond to alarms, communicate in noisy environments, and follow safety instructions.
+ Exposure to industrial and shipyard conditions including noise, vibration, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
+ Use of required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and shipyard‑specific protective gear.
+ Ability to safely navigate shipyard and shop environments including uneven surfaces, ladders, and gangways.
+ Ability to work around electrical equipment and follow all safety protocols.
