Job Description
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a **Composite F** **abrication Specialist B** to join our team at Kennedy Space Center. In this role, you will perform composite-related fabrication of detail parts and subassemblies using carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other lightweight materials commonly used in the aerospace industry.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Set up and operate automated lay-up machines.
+ Perform composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly tasks.
+ Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and planning documents.
+ Utilize fabrication tooling materials and automated/motorized equipment.
+ Execute hand-lay-up methods and NC equipment operations.
+ Select correct parts, materials, tools, and hardware to meet work statements.
+ Report job constraints such as workmanship errors or material defects.
+ Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices.
+ Perform basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation.
+ Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance.
+ Maintain exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards.
+ Ensure safety compliance at all times using appropriate PPE.
Day-to-Day Skills:
+ **Electrical:** Soldering on electronic and avionics products, wire harness assembly, adhesives and wire handling.
+ **Mechanical:** Experience with torque wrenches.
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience with Thermal Protection Systems (TPS).
+ Drilling experience.
+ Painting/autobody experience.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
Education & Experience:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ Typically 1+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
+ **Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.**
+ Must be able to work **all shifts** .
+ **Training:** 2–4 weeks on **first shift** ; successful completion of training (OJT or classroom) is a contingency for this assignment.
Physical Demands:
+ Must be comfortable standing, bending, and crawling into confined spaces.
+ Must be able to lift **10+ lbs** .
