    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a Roadway Inspector to ensure work zone traffic control setups meet safety standards and approved guidelines.

     

    This role involves driving to various job sites in and around Norfolk, VA, and inspecting cones, barriers, and other traffic control devices to confirm they are placed correctly and “to code.”

    Key Responsibilities:

    Conduct daily inspections of work zone traffic control setups (cones, barriers, signs).

     

    Verify compliance with VDOT standards and approved traffic control plans.

     

    Document findings and report any issues or non-compliance.

     

    Communicate with site personnel to address and resolve placement concerns.

     

    Ensure public and worker safety by maintaining proper traffic flow through work zones.

    Schedule & Work Environment:

    Field-based role with daily travel across Norfolk and surrounding areas.

     

    Work may involve varying weather conditions.

    Benefits, etc:

    Will be provided company vehicle and reimbursement for gas.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control Training OR Guardrail Installation Certification (GRIT).

     

    Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

     

    Ability to work outdoors and travel between multiple job sites. Previous experience in a roadway inspector role performing the same or similar job responsibilities.
