About the Role:
Under general direction of management, an underwriter is responsible for the company’s loan production process for multiple states, including analyzing and approving or declining credit requests with a focus towards maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio and ongoing process improvements while maintaining strong business relationships and partnerships throughout the bank.
+ Evaluate the overall credit worthiness of individuals and their ability to meet their financial obligations for traditional credit–based products as well as a variety ofstructuredbanking transactions, traded products, and underwriting activities.
+ May work with attorneys, the SBA, and financial or other legal resources to obtain correct and accurate documents to fully protect the financial institution’s interests in the credit relationship.
+ Review proposed transactions against the credit standards set by the organization.
+ Monitor the Bank’s credit exposure by industry and product/transaction type to ensure adherence to the exposure limits set by the Bank.
+ Maintain focus on day–to–day deliverables, developing solutions based upon subject expertise, and occasionally representing the department at a broader level.
+ Ability to independently make decisions underwriting all loan product requests while adhering to Bank Policy and Procedures.
+ Work in a fast-paced environment while working with business partners to deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Work closely with Loan Processors to assure decisions are made in a timely manner and delivered to branch.
+ All employees are responsible for internal controls in the performance of their assigned duties. Internal control responsibilities are established in various policies, procedures, and documents, including the Code of Conduct.
+ Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
About** **You:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business or completed business courses preferred.
+ 2-4 years in a business loan role as an underwriter or other relevant experience required.
+ Expert knowledge of all types of business loans, regulations, insurance, documentation, and analysis techniques specific to the industry.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team setting, along with strong mentorship skills and time management skills.
+ Working knowledge of manual and automated processing.
+ Intermediate skills in word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment and accomplish work without direct supervision.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence the attitudes and opinions of others.
+ Strong financial analysis skills.
+ Multitasking withanability to meet deadlines and solve problems in ambiguous situations.
The pay range for this role is $68,000 to $100,000
The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
