Behavioral Scientist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with NATO Stakeholders to support the Capability Development Team in ACT.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Directly supporting a key NATO project within ACT by integrating cognitive effects thinking into product development and execution.

+ Designing, executing and analysing experiments within the NATO Command Structure, or NATO exercises.

+ Supporting the development and implementation of the NATO Cognitive Warfare Concept.

+ Engaging with the Cognitive Warfare Community of Interest at designated workshops, conferences and other associated forums.

+ Supporting the design and integration of cognitive and behavioural effects into NATO wargames and exercises.

+ Aid with design and implementation of training related to cognitive vulnerability and cognitive enhancement. (individual and whole force).

Required Qualifications:

+ University Degree in Behavioural Science or a related field

+ Five years in the last 10 in the field of applied behavioral science or cognitive effects including understanding of human behaviour, cognitive effects, and decision-making processes.

+ Demonstratable experience in applied cognitive effects in the context of organizational transformation.

+ 3 years of experience in the last 10 of briefing senior leaders/decision makers.

+ 3 years of experience in the last 10 analysing large datasets and understating trends in behavior, sentiment, and cognitive response.

+ 3+ years of operational knowledge of anlyzing and mmoedling individuals and target groups responses to various stimui, including messaging, propaganda, and influence tactics.

+ Working knowledge of psychological theories related to behavior change, persuasion, and influence, including application in military and political contexts.

+ Ability to craft, implement, and assess strategies designed to influence target audience perceptions, behaviors, and decision-making.

+ Understanding of persuasion and influence dynamics in the digital information environment, including rapid information dissemination and manipulation risks.

+ Experience constructing and delivering compelling narratives aligned with strategic objectives.

+ Familiarity with both traditional and modern media platforms, including social media and digital channels, to disseminate influence and strategic communications.

+ Ability to work effectively within mixed military and civilian teams, integrating insights from multiple disciplines and functional areas.

+ Active Secret Clearance

Desirable Experience

+ Advanced skill in constructing and delivering compelling narratives that align with strategic influence and communication objectives.

+ Expertise in developing and disseminating persuasive messages that account for cultural, psychological, and contextual factors across diverse or contested audiences.

+ Ability to produce persuasive mixed-media content tailored to specific target audiences, including audiences with diverse or conflicting interests.

+ Proficiency in analyzing large datasets to identify trends in behavior, sentiment, and cognitive responses.

+ Experience using analytical tools and software for behavioral analysis, psychometrics, and sentiment analysis.

Ability to develop and manage complex information campaigns to achieve specific goals.
