As a Body Module Supervisor, you will lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering technical excellence, providing mentorship, and strategically allocating resources to meet program objectives. You will provide critical design and development oversight, guiding the creation of robust body module electronic assembly requirements, ensuring material durability, and establishing reliable electrical and mechanical interfaces. A significant part of your role involves leading supplier management and quality assurance efforts, driving technical reviews, overseeing failure mode documentation, and collaborating with supplier technical assistance to ensure compliance and quality. Your role also encompasses cross-functional collaboration and problem resolution, coordinating with internal teams, optimizing module configurations, and guiding your team in troubleshooting complex features and resolving critical issues related to body module systems. Finally, you will drive continuous process improvement and strategic initiatives through audits, documentation of best practices and lessons learned, and by championing training and mentoring programs within the Ford design and release community.
What you'll do...
+ **Team Leadership & Development:**
+ Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
+ Conduct performance reviews, set clear objectives, and provide regular coaching and feedback to direct reports.
+ Allocate team resources effectively to meet program deadlines, technical objectives, and strategic priorities.
+ **Design & Development Oversight:**
+ Oversee and guide the team in the development of Ford body module electronic assembly design requirements, ensuring best practices are applied across all electronic module designs, with a continued focus on systems such as windows, tailgate mechanisms, frunk operation, and others.
+ Provide technical guidance and approval on acceptable material types to ensure proper lifetime exposure and durability of body module components.
+ Ensure the establishment of robust electrical, architectural, and mechanical interfaces to maximize system robustness and reliability across various body module mechanisms.
+ Facilitate and work with Suppliers and Electrical Technical Specialists to Conduct Module Worst Case Circuit Analysis and module component DVP&R
+ Support Engineering Lead on TDRs prior to key program milestone events (FDJ, DCV, PEC, FEC)
+ **Supplier Management & Quality Assurance:**
+ Lead the teams that drive technical reviews with suppliers, ensuring compliance with design requirements and a deep understanding of both mechanical and electronic aspects of body module systems.
+ Oversee the thorough documentation of failure modes and ensure the implementation of design requirement improvements, with an emphasis on addressing issues specific to body module functionalities.
+ Collaborate with the supplier technical assistance team to ensure ongoing requirement compliance on production hardware for body module components.
+ Guide the team in developing and utilizing comprehensive supplier review checklist documents for program reviews by module design and release engineers.
+ Perform regular reviews of current production quality and work with supplier and PVT teams to improve warranty R/1000 and CPU trends
+ Provide launch support and address Voice of the Customer Flee issues to closure
+ Monitor JIRA, AIMs and DURIS and provide corrective action resolution
+ Lead TVM efforts to implement agreed cost reduction changes
+ **Validation & Testing Leadership:**
+ Direct the team in the development and execution of the Ford electronic module assembly validation requirement process, focusing on both mechanical and electronic performance for body modules.
+ Manage and maintain corporate validation documents and requirements, and ensure the team provides necessary company-wide training for module engineers on body module subsystems.
+ Champion and ensure the implementation of best practices in module validation, addressing both electrical and mechanical stresses relevant to body module systems.
+ Supervise the development and maintenance of corporate-wide technical documentation for module validation related to body module subsystems.
+ **Cross-Functional Collaboration & Problem Resolution:**
+ Coordinate and lead interface efforts with internal Ford teams to ensure proper operation, configuration, and validation testing occurs at both the module and system levels, considering the integrated nature of body module systems.
+ Foster collaboration with component and system teams to optimize module configurations, taking into account the interplay between mechanical and electronic elements.
+ Guide the team in troubleshooting complex features and resolving critical customer concerns related to the expected behavior of body module systems.
+ Lead and guide the team in the resolution of complex module configuration, function, and assembly validation issues related to body module subsystems.
+ **Process Improvement & Strategic Initiatives:**
+ Drive cross-product documentation and communication of design and manufacturing best practices, focusing on the unique challenges and considerations of body module systems.
+ Direct and participate in deep-dive, data-driven audits at key events, including vehicle program milestones, to evaluate the effectiveness of body module subsystem designs.
+ Ensure robust auditing of physical and CAE test data with suppliers to validate design integrity.
+ Guarantee that all testing aligns with expected standards and test requirements for body module subsystems.
+ Oversee the auditing of program-level verification evidence to ensure program compliance with necessary data requirements.
+ Ensure the applicability and quality of Design Rules evidence stored in FEDE (Ford Engineering Design Environment) and WERS system for programs.
+ Lead the team in reviewing early program assumptions and proactively identifying new potential unique noise factors, customer usage patterns, and failure mode risks associated with body module systems.
+ Ensure the capture and documentation of Ford and industry lessons learned in the associated quality history.
+ Oversee the alignment of classification of significant and critical characteristics in appropriate documents.
+ Verify that all Design Rules and Requirements are assessed at key milestones (FDJ, xUPs, DCV, FEC, PEC, J1, etc.)
+ Champion and oversee the creation and delivery of training, seminars, and mentoring programs to support the Ford design and release community and supplier technical assistance teams.
You'll have...
+ BS/MS Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) along with 10 or more years of progressive experience in automotive electronic/body module validation and design, with a strong focus on systems and their integration into broader body modules.
+ Proven and recognized leader with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing and mentoring engineering teams in Body Module Design.

+ Exceptional leadership, program management, mentoring, and strategic communication (written and oral) skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.
+ Strong strategic supplier relationship management skills, with a demonstrated ability to coach, lead, and collaborate with module core engineers and suppliers to address the unique challenges of body module system components.
