The Department of Health Sciences is responsible for all of the scholarly endeavors and research activities at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, overseeing all IRRB approvals and our Annual Scientific Session which results in numerous presentations for our residents, students and faculty. In addition, the work in this Department supports many of our Centers' accreditation requirements for research. The work of this team of Health Scientists is a critical component of our ACGME accreditation for residency training.
The Manager of Health Sciences is responsible for the administrative oversight of the Department of Health Sciences with a special focus on collaboration with the Lerner Research team. In this role, you will oversee the work of the Senior Health Scientists, Health Scientists, Biostatistician and the Administrative Assistant, ensuring the scholarly needs of each of our residency programs and accredited centers are met. You will also collaborate with the Learner Research Team on the oversight of the operation of the Institutional Research Review Board (IRRB) as well as manage the Health Sciences Oversight Committee (HSOC). Through statistical and analytic support and expertise in research design and methods, you will provide surveys, data processing and data presentations to resident physicians, medical staff, and other institutional staff. Using your strong communication, organization, and management skills along with your research background, you will help to meet the critical need for research and scholarly activity in all our residency programs as well as our accredited centers.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Manage the work activities of all personnel working in the Department of Health Sciences to include the Senior Health Scientist, Health Scientists, Biostatistician and the Department Secretary.
+ Interview, hire, orient and train staff.
+ Evaluate performance, provide feedback and make personnel action recommendations (e.g. promotions, transfers, disciplinary, discharge).
+ Be responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of the Department of Health Sciences including the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures and development and achievement of department goals and objectives.
+ Prepare and administer the department operational and capital budgets.
+ Work with the financial team to review vendor contracts and maintenance agreements for equipment.
+ Oversee purchase of supplies and equipment and the use of funds earmarked for research and scholarly activities in the Akron General Treasury.
+ Oversee the operation of the Institutional Research Review Board (IRRB) and the Health Sciences Oversight Committee (HSOC).
+ Serve as a member of HSOC.
+ Facilitate the fulfillment of ACGME scholarly requirements, as well as scholarly requirements for all Medical Center certification and accreditation programs through communication with the Department Chairmen/Directors, Program Directors and Research Directors.
+ Assist with the development and implementation of a competency-based research program for all ACGME-accredited residency programs with the assistance of Research support staff and through communication with Program Directors and Coordinators for each residency program.
+ Provide statistical analytic support and expertise in research design and methods, surveys, data processing and data presentation to resident physicians, medical staff and other institutional staff.
+ Assist and/or coordinate the submission of research protocols, consent forms, modifications, and annual reports to the Institutional Research Review Board.
+ Oversee and/or assist investigators in preparing and presenting their research locally, regionally and nationally.
+ Oversee and/or assist with the preparation and submission of abstracts, manuscripts, reports or other publishable scientific works.
+ Promote collaborative residency scholarly participation through journal clubs and case presentations.
+ Provide direct supervision of residents participating in a research rotation with the approval of the respective Program Director.
+ Participate in interim program evaluations and RRC site visits for each residency program, as well as program reviews for other certified or accredited programs as requested.
+ Provide and support research-related education through one-to-one consultation with medical students, resident physicians, medical staff and other institutional staff.
+ Maintain the training program websites related to research and scholarly activity, as well as the intranet and internet research websites.
+ Conduct frequent review of existing research resources and serves as an advocate for securing needed resources, including statistical support as needed.
+ Serve as a liaison to research and scholarly resources throughout the Cleveland Clinic Akron General.
+ Coordinate the Akron General Scientific Session.
+ Track research and scholarly activities on an institutional level to report to various accrediting and credentialing bodies, as well as for the purposes of public relations.
+ Participate in appropriate professional organizations, department and hospital committees and stay current in literature pertaining to areas of research.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Master's Degree
+ Seven years of experience working in the field of medical education, hospital environment or other medical environment to include experience independently initiating and carrying out original biomedical research
+ Ability to obtain management, staff and physician involvement
+ Ability to manage complex issues and projects
+ Excellent teaching skills
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Computer and data management skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ PhD in a related field
+ Knowledge of the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and American College of Surgeons (ACS)
+ Three years of team lead, supervisory or management experience
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $84,200.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $128,412.50
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
