As a Clinical Documentation Improvement Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operational activities of a team of clinical documentation specialists and assist the Manager with personnel-related duties. In this role, you will organize, direct, coordinate, and manage the activities of the CDI team, ensuring compliance with CCHS, JCAHO, and other regulatory requirements. Serving as a liaison between CDI and other CCHS departments, you will monitor team performance, provide ongoing education and support, administer disciplinary counseling when needed, and make recommendations in alignment with Cleveland Clinic enterprise HIM and CCF policies and procedures.
A caregiver in this role works remotely days from Ohio or Florida - hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Assure compliance with CCHS, JCAHO, and other regulatory bodies.
+ Serve as a liaison between CDI and other CCHS Departments.
+ Supervise CDI personnel in daily operational activities.
+ Direct the performance of CDI for the purpose of accurate documentation and queries.
+ Monitor and maintain data on employee compliance with productivity and quality standards and take appropriate action as needed.
+ Assist the manager with hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, training, distribution and flow, and employee engagement.
+ Administer corrective action as needed.
+ Maintain efficient systems and workflow to meet both CCF and government regulations.
+ Protect the confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA regulations.
+ Responsible for ongoing development, implementation, processing and maintenance of clinical data computer systems.
+ Protect the interest of the Clinic with HIM vendors.
+ Interacts with ITD in the support of systems and processes in the section.
+ Facilitate/train CDI staff on daily activities.
+ Monitor and ensure time and attendance policy for the section.
+ Interact with the CDI Quality and Education Coordinators to support CDI Quality and Education initiatives.
+ Interact with the Manager of CDI to support the program initiatives and strategic planning goals.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of accredited school of nursing or Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field
+ Nursing License in State of Ohio (RN) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
+ Two years of managerial/supervisory experience
+ Knowledge of medical record technology, statistics and organization
+ Knowledge of supervisory techniques and methods with the ability to train others in CDI concepts
+ Advanced experience with PC applications including Windows, 3M and Epic software programs
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ Advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology and disease process
+ Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or evidence of equivalent competency
+ Three years of experience in a CDI environment
+ Experience in a large healthcare organization
+ Experience supervising teams and ensuring independent productivity
+ Background in CDI processes
+ Familiarity with risk adjustment concepts and processes
+ Understanding of Patient Safety Indicators (PSI) and Hospital-Acquired Conditions (HAC)
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
+ Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
+ Ability to work with physical records, such as retrieving and filing them.
+ Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
+ In some locations, ability to move up to 25 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
