SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supervising the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities used by the organization at Sherwood Lumber’s Prime Distribution Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Oversees all equipment repairs and site maintenance activities.
+ Oversees the daily workflow, scheduling and assignments of the equipment and facilities.
+ Inspects and performs maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities including but not limited to forklifts, warehouse, trucks and yard maintenance.
+ Ensures assigned equipment and facilities are ready for regular business and special events.
+ Manages site maintenance including snow removal, utilities, site aggregate, and building-related issues.
+ Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.
+ Maintains files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment.
+ Maintains the inventory, storage and distribution of equipment.
+ Maintains repair log for all equipment and facilities.
+ Provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment.
+ Performs repairs and maintenance within budget.
+ Assists in coaching new hires during the on-boarding process.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Directly supervises facilities and repair & maintenance employees within the operations department.
+ Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Preferred: Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Computer skills required: Time & Labor Management System; and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).
+ Other skills required:
+ Good understanding of the equipment to be maintained.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
+ Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
+ Ability to work closely with peers on team orientated goals.
+ Ability to follow company directives and instruction.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
+ Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
+ Continually works near moving mechanical parts.
+ Occasionally exposed to the following outside weather conditions: extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid.
+ While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
+ The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
