Data Product Engineer
Job Description:
We are searching for a hybrid Data Product Engineer who sits at the intersection of Data Engineering, Cloud Architecture, and Software Development. Unlike traditional data roles that focus solely on SQL pipelines, you will be a "Builder"—writing Python code for AWS infrastructure, developing React frontends for internal apps, and integrating AI models to drive smarter business decisions. You will turn data into interactive software products.
This role is Hybrid based on-site three days per week in our Atlanta or Austin office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build "Smart" Pipelines: Develop and maintain complex data ingestion and processing workflows using Python and AWS Glue/Lambda to move data between Snowflake and our custom apps.
• Full Stack Development: Build and maintain high-performance internal web applications using React, Vite, and TypeScript to visualise data and capture user inputs.
• AI Integration: Experiment with and implement AI solutions (using tools like AWS Bedrock) to automate tasks or generate predictive insights from our commercial data.
• Infrastructure as Code: Deploy and manage your own cloud resources (APIs, Databases, Storage) using Terraform or similar IaC tools.
• API Development: Design and build secure REST/GraphQL APIs that allow our front-end apps to talk to the data layer securely.
• Rapid Prototyping: Work in short sprints to spin up Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to test new business ideas quickly.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Core Data Development team to ensure your apps are consuming "Truth" data from Snowflake correctly.
• Requirements:
• Strong coding skills in Python (Data processing/Backend) and JavaScript/TypeScript (Frontend).
• Experience with React (or similar modern JS frameworks).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, Lambda, API Gateway).
• Ability to write SQL to query data warehouses (Snowflake).
• Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub) and modern deployment flows.
Preferred:
• Experience with dbt (to understand what the core team is building).
• Interest or experience in AI
Plenty of perks:
• Competitive salaries that landed us top 5% of similar sized companies (according to Comparably)
• Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage
• 401(k) retirement match (100% matching up to 4%)
• 32 days paid time off (21 personal days, 10 national holidays, 1 floating holiday)
• 18 weeks paid parental leave for birth, adoption or surrogacy offered 1 year after start date
• 5 days paid yearly to volunteer (through Sage Foundation)
• $5,250 tuition reimbursement per calendar year starting 6 months after hire date
• Sage Wellness Rewards Program ($600 wellness credit and $360 fitness reimbursement annually)
• Library of on-demand career development options and ongoing training offerings
