    About the Worker’s Compensation Board of Indiana (WCB) :

    The Worker’s Compensation Board provides efficient dispute resolution for injured workers and employers by administering both formal adjudication and informal dispute resolution services. We also serve the public by answering inquiries regarding the Indiana Worker's Compensation system and collecting statistical information regarding workplace injuries in Indiana.

    Role Overview:

    The Approver reviews agreements and calculations for accuracy and substantive content. The agreements document the types and amounts of benefits being paid. Agreements may pass through the Approver multiple times as benefits change and are added. You must be able to read and understand medical reports that set out permanent impairments to various body parts. Daily functions include:

     

    + Reviewing and approving Agreements to Compensation for temporary total and temporary partial benefits.

    + Reviewing and approving Agreements between Employer and Dependents of Deceased Employee.

    + Reviewing and approving Agreements for Permanent Partial Impairment, including evaluation of relevant medical reports.

    + Reviewing, calculating, and approving Lump Sum Payments.

    + Providing information and assistance to injured workers, employers, adjusters, third-party administrators, and attorneys regarding benefits calculations both in person and on the phone.

    + Presenting at seminars and providing training on behalf of the Agency as requested.

    Salary Statement:

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    The essential functions of this role are as follows:

    + Prepare and maintain administrative reports, policies, and procedures for different program areas.

    + Responsible for all administrative activities such as sorting mail, ordering supplies, and processing travel.

    + Schedule and maintain calendars for meetings, travel, and activities.

    + Prepare information and take notes for meetings as needed.

    + Answer and direct incoming correspondence to the appropriate individual.

    + Aid departments in program needs.

    + Lead or assist on a variety of projects.

    What You'll Need for Success:

    You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

    + General knowledge of the basic principles and practices of administrative management.

    + Effective communication skills.

    + Ability to prioritize work and project time for accomplishing activities.

    + Ability to establish cooperative work relationships with a variety of stakeholders

    + Working knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    + Ability to update and write procedures and policies.

    + Ability to coordinate activities.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
