Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly strategic Human Resources Director to serve as the head of our HR department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving HR strategy, ensuring compliance, and building a high-performing, engaged workforce. The ideal candidate is decisive, confident, and able to provide actionable guidance to senior management while managing a growing HR team.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead and manage the HR department (team of 7).
+ Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing clear recommendations and rationale for HR initiatives.
+ Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
+ Ensure compliance with California employment laws and regulations, as well as applicable union agreements.
+ Oversee all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, benefits administration, and talent development.
+ Partner with leadership to foster a positive organizational culture and support workforce engagement and retention initiatives.
+ Own HR decision-making and accountability; provide guidance with confidence and clarity.

Requirements
+ 6+ years of HR Director-level experience.
+ Strong background in California HR practices and compliance.
+ Proven experience in the nonprofit sector.
+ Experience working in a unionized environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to make strategic HR decisions and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
+ Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to manage and develop a diverse HR team.
