Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in the South Suburbs of Chicago, IL . This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in financial management, construction accounting, and team leadership. The Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of financial processes and compliance with industry standards while supporting the organization’s growth.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee month-end close procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

• Manage general ledger activities and prepare detailed financial statements and supporting schedules.

• Lead a team of administrative staff, including clerks and accountants, providing guidance and support.

• Coordinate accounts payable/receivable processes and oversee construction billing submissions using Textura.

• Process and document Time and Material (T& M) projects with precision and attention to detail.

• Handle compliance and reporting documentation through platforms such as B2GNow and ensure timely submission.

• Review job cost data and contribute to the preparation of monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports.

• Serve as the point of contact for construction-specific payroll matters, reconciling quarterly payroll reports and preparing returns.

• Establish and maintain efficient systems and controls to verify the integrity of all financial processes and data.

• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors, subcontractors, financial institutions, and internal teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

• Construction industry experience required

• Minimum of three years of recent supervisory or management experience.

• Proficiency in construction accounting software, such as Computer Ease or Viewpoint Vista.

• Familiarity with construction billing platforms (e.g., Textura) and compliance portals like B2GNow.

• Strong knowledge of prevailing wage compliance, certified payroll, and union reporting requirements.

• Expertise in job costing principles and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.

• Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
