Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Sr. Operations Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on managing accounting processes related to gas plant operations, ensuring accurate allocation of volumes and values, and maintaining compliance with contractual agreements and company policies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Perform monthly allocations for gas plant volumes, generate customer invoices, and prepare detailed financial reports.
• Monitor producer volume commitments and issue billing for any shortages or shortfalls.
• Maintain strong relationships with external customers by addressing inquiries and delivering timely, accurate information.
• Collaborate with commercial and field operations teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of gas processing contracts and workflows.
• Respond promptly to audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed.
• Work with Gas Plant Operations, Commercial, and Gas Measurement teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure compliance with documented processes and organizational policies, maintaining proper documentation.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, general ledger updates, and account reconciliations.
• Manage cost and expense allocations related to natural gas and NGL operations.
Requirements
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in plant accounting or a similar role within the energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of gas processing operations and accounting principles, including cost and expense allocation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work independently while managing priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak workload periods.
