Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Agoura Hills, California. In this role, you will play a key part in managing fund allocations, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and handling various accounting functions. This position requires someone with strong attention to detail and expertise in tax, accounts payable, and general ledger management.

Responsibilities:

• Allocate and manage taxpayer funds for appropriate use, ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Process payroll, including deductions, garnishments, and contributions, for a team of approximately 35 employees.

• Handle pension payouts and health benefits administration accurately and efficiently.

• Manage accounts payable, including processing an average of 40 invoices during peak periods.

• Prepare and maintain journal entries to ensure proper financial reporting.

• Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.

• Conduct corporate and sales tax calculations and filings in compliance with applicable laws.

• Collaborate with teams to address accounting discrepancies and ensure seamless financial operations.

• Utilize accounting systems and tools to enhance workflow and reporting accuracy.

• Provide support for audits and financial reviews as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return processes.

• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and managing general ledger activities.

• Experience with payroll processing, including deductions and garnishments.

• Familiarity with pension and benefits administration.

• Ability to handle high-volume accounts payable tasks efficiently.

• Advanced understanding of fund accounting principles and practices.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
